JOnAS Server doesn't start LibreSource
I tried with different JVM's under Gentoo linux, but the JOnAS Server doesn't initialize properly. I am using LibreSource-Community-1.5-Installer.jar and the installation process completes without errors. But when I start LibreSource via LibreSource/start.sh, the JOnAS server hangs indefinitely. Here are the messages the JOnAS server gives:

2006-02-08 10:06:48,882 : INFO : main : Server.<init> : JVM used is 1.5.0_06 version of Sun Microsystems Inc. vendor on Linux 2.6.14-gentoo-r5/i386 OS.
2006-02-08 10:06:48,906 : INFO : main : PolicyProvider.init : Using JOnAS PolicyConfigurationFactory provider and JOnAS Policy provider
2006-02-08 10:06:52,727 : INFO : main : ServiceManager.startRegistry : registry service started

Then, nothing happens any more. I found an old log in JOnAS/logs named jonas-2006-01-30.3.log but I cannot reproduce its contents, neither with SUN JDK 1.5.0_06 nor with Blackdown JDK 1.4.2.03.

Anything I can do to fix this?

comment by Georg Lippold - 09 Feb 06 02:34 PM Found out where to change it. Edit JOnAS/conf/carol.properties and replace the ports 200{0,1,2,3} with other ones.
comment by Georg Lippold - 09 Feb 06 02:20 PM O.K., you found it. Here it comes :)

telnet localhost 2000 Trying 127.0.0.1… Connected to localhost.localdomain. Escape character is '^]'. "IMPLEMENTATION" "Cyrus timsieved v2.2.12-Gentoo" "SASL" "NTLM LOGIN PLAIN DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5" "SIEVE" "fileinto reject envelope vacation imapflags notify subaddress relational comparator-i;ascii-numeric regex" "STARTTLS" OK

Seems like Gentoo's cyrus timesieved is listening there :) Thanks. How do I reconfigure JOnAS to another port?

comment by Georg Lippold - 09 Feb 06 02:01 PM I thought that maybe my username ("libresource") was too long because even ps only showed my uid instead of my name. I changed it to libresrc (exactly 8 chars), but starting didn't succeed either. But a new log message appeared:

JONAS_BASE set to /home/libresrc/libresrc/JOnAS/

Maybe this helps?

comment by Florent Jouille - 08 Feb 06 07:15 PM Is your loopback network interface correctly configured ?
comment by Sebastien Jourdain - 08 Feb 06 12:26 PM You don't have a bigger trace than that ?
comment by Georg Lippold - 08 Feb 06 10:42 AM I now found out how to make an account :)
