We use LibreSource as an online collaboration platform at the university in a basic software engineering course. Students have access to the current course, and download/upload their assigments. Further they can discuss problems in the forum. Additionally we run small projects, and the students are supposed to use LibreSource as project home page, using also bugtracker, synchronizer, forum, wiki, to organize their project, and to collaborate.

What I like most is that it is easy to install. Furthermore it is easy to use by inexperienced users. It is an integrated platform, where the most important tools needed in online collaborations are available. I can separate user areas using permissions.
